ISTANBUL-EUROPE EXPRESS 2010

ISTANBUL-EUROPE EXPRESS 2010

Initiated by Cuma in 2010, Istanbul-Europe Express is a year long project aiming to develop the artistic network within Turkey and Europe with a focus on the Balkans supported by the European Commission’s Grant Scheme programme entitled Civil Society Dialogue – Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture.

As a series of three consecutive meetings and establishment of a website, Istanbul-Europe Express 2010 project - in partnership with IETM (International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts) (BE), Relais Culture Europe (FR), Bunker (SI), TIN (Theatre Institute Netherlands) (NL) and Springdance Festival (NL) aims to fertilize the performing art’s sector potential.

Each of the events will take place in 2010 and 2011. They have been conceived to confront the performing arts actors to their main issues and interrogations.

How do we structure and enhance our own practises? How do we establish a balance between independent space and institutions? How can we improve the conditions of creation, production and distribution today? How do we reach a wider audience? How international collaborations can answer these problematics?

CUMA does believe in a collective process to strengthen each of us. Common initiatives can feed the performing arts sector’s dynamic in Turkey and Europe.

Meet. Share. Connect. Sparkle. Initiate. Create. The project meets the precise needs of interconnecting, capacity building, visibility of the performing arts actors, regarding the specific situation of the contemporary art sector in Istanbul and Europe.

Istanbul-Europe Express 2010 is setting up the basis of future artistic collaborations in a long term prospective.
